Fireplace / Furnace Flue Cleaning

Fireplace's and furnace flues should be cleaned and inspected at least once a year by a CSIA certified chimney sweep. Sweeping of the fireplace and furnace flue is a very important part of being a responsible homeowner. When a fireplace or furnace flue is swept it will be accompanied by a 14 point safety inspection.

Fireplace Cleanings

Fireplace cleanings take on average 30min to 1hr. The technician servicing the fireplace will start by shining there light up the flue and into the smoke chamber and firebox to make sure its is free from blockages or faults.

The sweep will then lay a tarp in front of the fireplace and bring in all necessary equipment. The sweeping will then begin. The technician will feed his brushes and rods up/down the fireplace flue, freeing and creosote the is clinging to the flue. The technician will then remove any debris from the smoke chamber and smoke shelf. When the sweeping is done the technician will remove any unwanted debris from the fire box. The technician will finish the appointment by going over any findings with you.

Furnace Flue Cleaning

Furnace Flue Cleaning are very similar to a fireplace cleaning except the technician will be checking the connector pipes of your furnace/hot water heater. The technician will need access to the furnace so if there is any clutter around the furnace we ask the you move it prior to their arrival. When the technician has determined if the connector pipes are in good working order and clean he will begin the sweep from  either the roof or from inside the home. The technician will also perform a 7 point safety inspection on the furnace flue. If the technician notices any problems with the furnace flue they will bring them to your attention and will provide recommendations for how they should be addressed.

Above are brief descriptions of how the venting systems will be cleaned. If you have any questions or would like a fully detailed breakdown of the cleaning process feel free to give us a call at
